Position Overview
As an Associate, Finance and Capital Markets, you will support the development and management of complex financial models for operating renewable energy projects, supporting transaction closings/fundings, and support compliance with covenants in financing documents. You will work closely with other teams within Invenergy, including Renewable Development, Engineering, Project Management, Asset Management, and Legal as well as external stakeholders. This position is located at our headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage project finance models to analyze project and partnership level performance and valuation of operating wind, solar, and storage projects
- Assist in due diligence and analysis of tax equity partnership restructurings, project debt refinancings, asset acquisitions, and asset divestitures
- Support project finance activities during construction, term conversion, equity funding, and operations
- Maintain relationships with lender and equity partners
- Manage funding obligations in development loans, joint venture agreements, borrowings, and disbursements
- Manage compliance with debt and equity financing documents
- Manage and interpret offtake agreements, shareholder and partnership agreements, equipment and service contracts, real estate documents, and other contracts to identify issues that may impact project level and corporate financings
- Collaborate with company engineers, developers, asset managers, accounting, tax, legal, etc. as well as third party consultants when managing assigned transactions
- Support corporate finance activities, including cash management and compliance with corporate loan facilities
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or engineering
- 3+ years of experience in finance or banking
- Demonstrated ability to develop complex financing models in Excel
- Familiarity in reading and interpreting commercial contracts and agreements
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess self-starter qualities with the ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with project or corporate finance debt or equity transactions in power generation or energy/utilities sector
