DIRECTOR, PORTFOLIO PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (PPM): AbbVie Inc. - Lake County, IL
Drive and contribute to Asset Team (Asset Strategy Team) strategies and aligned execution on advancing clinical stage pharmaceutical products from development to commercialization. Contribute to the cross-functional Asset Team discussions both from a program management (PM) functional perspective, and a strategic perspective. Lead and coordinate Asset Teams in the development of the cross-functional Asset Strategy in partnership with the Asset Strategy Leader (ASL). Guide the team in preparing content and messaging for Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meetings. Employ healthcare industry knowledge in pharmaceutical, payer and provider dynamics, as well as quantitative modeling. Leverage understanding of medical or scientific material and distilling key insights to senior management and cross-functional client teams including Clinical, Medical, project managers, R&D, Commercial, HR, Legal, and Finance management. Ensure clear translation of asset strategy into tactical plans and drive execution of integrated plan(s) across Asset Teams and deliverable teams. Drive a coordinated approach across Asset deliverable team project managers to ensure aligned execution of the asset strategy. Partner with Project Planners to ensure accurate, up to date asset level timelines and reporting. Accountable for partnering with the project planners to ensure that Asset Team timelines reflect asset strategy and current status. Partner with project planners for scenario analysis and associated analytics for asset plans. Ensure that dashboard reports are timely and accurate. Responsible for project management support for key strategic planning processes including developing timelines and plans for key meetings and review cycles, developing content and process guidance and templates to guide the development of therapeutic area/asset strategies, and ensuring key meetings are scheduled with logistics in place. Proactively and independently identify, communicate and manage cross-functional asset risks with an All for One AbbVie mindset. Partner with sub-team project managers to ensure transparent identification and communication of sub-team risks. Apply judgment to ensure that the appropriate risks are captured at the Asset Team level and transparently communicated and escalated as appropriate. Partner with the ASL to drive cross-functional Asset Team effectiveness. Drive cross-functional alignment within the Asset Team and structures Asset Team discussions to drive good decision-making practices. Ensure high performing Asset Team through monitoring and assessing the team’s performance. Actively share learning and collaborates with other Asset Team PM leads to drive consistency across the portfolio. Accountable for helping Asset Team navigate the governance process effectively and efficiently and appropriate use of each forum. Employ experience in MS Office suite (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote). Serve as a leader for program management, both within the department and for AbbVie. Apply best practice program management skills to Asset Team. Actively contribute to the continual improvement of the Portfolio Program Management department. Serve as a mentor for Associate Director, Portfolio Program Management staff and Project Planner staff.
Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Neuroscience, Life Sciences, Medicine, Biology, or a highly-related field of study (Will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields with at least five (5) years of related experience in lieu of a Master’s degree), each alternative education requirement including at least two (2) years of related experience in: (i) employing healthcare industry knowledge in pharmaceutical, payer and provider dynamics, as well as quantitative modeling; (ii) understanding of medical or scientific material and distilling key insights to senior management and cross-functional client teams including Clinical, Medical, project managers, R&D, Commercial, HR, Legal, and Finance management; (iii) project management support for key strategic planning processes including developing timelines and plans for key meetings and review cycles, developing content and process guidance and templates to guide the development of therapeutic area/asset strategies, and ensuring key meetings are scheduled with logistics in place; and (iv) MS Office suite (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote).
