Job Description

ARCHITECT, TECHNOLOGY I: AbbVie Inc. - Lake County, IL (with various and unanticipated worksite locations throughout the U.S.)

Responsible for curating content to support key business initiatives, working primarily with data scientist and data analysts across functional disciplines. Participate in the acquisition, cataloging, and harmonization of information aligned with the needs of business stakeholders. Support data consumers in understanding information context, generating fit for purpose datasets, and effectively utilizing advance analytic tools.  Lead the design, development, testing, and documentation of complex programs from approved specifications, and subsequent iterations, using the operating model process and best practices. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvement, including automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability & elasticity. Responsible for building infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL/NoSQL and big data technologies. Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics using data integration tools such as Informatica IICS and data analysis programming language such as Python, SQL, SAS and R. Build Data quality management template and guidelines for data warehouses and hubs. Plan, build and run enterprise class information management solutions across a variety of technologies such as big data, master data, data profiling, batch processing, and data indexing technologies. Establish advance search solutions that include synonym, inference, and faceted searching. Ensure appropriate security and compliance policies are followed for information access and dissemination. Responsible for defining and applying information quality and consistency business rules throughout the data processing lifecycle. Collaborate with information providers to ensure quality data updates are processed in a timely fashion. Enforce and expand the use of organizational Common Data Model and industry standard information descriptions (ontologies, taxonomies, vocabularies, lexicons, dictionaries, thesauruses, glossaries etc. Responsible for managing the information portal and its customer-facing resources (data catalog, data portal, etc.). Define data quality rules and establishing processes to implement them. Responsible for building strong data governance framework by working with global and affiliate stakeholders. Position requires work in various and unanticipated worksite locations throughout the U.S. 100% telecommuting permitted.

Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a highly related field of study required with at least two (2) years of specialized experience in (i) leading the design, development, testing, and documentation of complex programs from approved specifications, and subsequent iterations, using the operating model process and best practices; (ii) building infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL/NoSQL and big data technologies; (iii) building analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics using data integration tools such as Informatica IICS and data analysis programming language such as Python, SQL, SAS and R; and (iv) planning, building and running enterprise class information management solutions across a variety of technologies such as big data, master data, data profiling, batch processing, and data indexing technologies. Position requires work in various and unanticipated worksite locations throughout the U.S. 100% telecommuting permitted. Will accept educational equivalency evaluation prepared by a qualified evaluation service or in accordance with 8 CFR § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(D).
