Job Description
Job Responsibilities35% Under general direction serves as an Application Developer / Programmer Analyst performing
difficult and specialized professional Information Technology (IT) work and technical advisory
functions for DoIT/DOC:
• Coordinates the analysis, coding and testing of computer programs
• Writes detailed specifications that will be used to code and test programs
• Coordinates programming activities with other professional staff
• Monitors the preparation, review and revision of program procdures, methods and manuals.
25% Performs technical advisory functions in the evaluation of standards, procedures, and
techniques to determine the feasibility of conversion to data processing systems:
• Provides advice and recommendations for preparation and design of data processing
systems forms, charts and procedures
• Plans and develops techniques to accomplish conversion to automated processing
20% Interviews and consults with users regarding revisions, maintenance and improvements to
existing systems or development of new systems:
• Performs studies and analysis of user requirements for the population management
systems.
10% Develops and maintains cross-check and audit procedures to ensure accuracy of operations
and to correct deviations from specifications:
• Works outside of normal hours to meet deadlines
5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:
• Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and
conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors,
techniques and procedures
• Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations
• Travels when held off-site.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the
duties enumerated above.
