Job Summary

Perform repair and maintenance activities on city sewer lines.          

 Job Scope

No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.

 Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean out clogged sewer lines utilizing a high power hose.
• Replace broken sewer lines and install sewer lines for new connections.  Dig up sewers as necessary.
• Clean out catch basins using vactor trucks.
• Repair and maintain department equipment.  Change oil, lights, filters, hoses and tires on department trucks.
• Put solvents, degreasers and deodorants in sewers as needed.
• Drive and operate all equipment necessary to perform work.
• Break up, pour and repair concrete to complete sewer line repairs.
• Haul rock and dirt to and from site as needed.
• Clear snow and ice from sidewalks and catch basins in the city.
• Maintain manholes including cleaning, raising sunken manholes, setting back-up valves, and installing new manholes.
• Must carry a pager and be available for emergency on-call duty.
• Adheres to proper safety techniques and utilize safety equipment.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner which promotes good working relationships with clients, customers, co-workers and supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
