Description:

Provide counseling services to University employees regarding core University Payroll & Benefits (UPB) activities which requires moderate knowledge of benefit and payroll policies and procedures. Ensure the assigned areas of responsibility are conducted in compliance with established University and departmental guidelines, regulations and applicable state and federal tax laws.
Job Duties:
Research and respond to employees and departments in regard to benefits concerns such as Central Management Services (CMS), University benefits, and enrollment assistance to employees who contact us by telephone, e-mail, in person or through Team Dynamix tickets
Complete reports and audits as assigned by supervisor by performing manual or electronic processing of benefit and payroll transactions in multiple databases including Banner, HR Front End, Central Management Services (CMS) and Ariel while ensuring compliance with CMS, University policies, Federal and State laws and UPB procedures
Research and respond to employees and departments in regard to payroll questions and issues related to: payroll transactions, adjustments, retro pay, payroll check cancellations, reissues, check distribution, W2s, reissued tax forms, employment verifications, voluntary/involuntary withholdings, death benefits, terminal benefits and other UPB related question
Assist higher level staff with HRFE Separation processing and updating CMS Membership System and Banner
Assist employees with navigating System Human Resources Services site (My UI Info) for information and submitting enrollments/changes
Under direct supervision, assist higher level staff with higher level CMS and University system audits.
Process faxes and scan documents into employees' electronic files
Other duties as assigned appropriate for a Benefits Representative classification

Qualifications:

Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the categories below:

A. College course work in human resource management, business administration, social sciences, or a closely related field:
* 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
* Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
* 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
* Bachelor's degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) 2. Work experience performing clerical or paraprofessional duties related to benefits and/or insurance benefits in benefits, insurance, retirement, healthcare, or human resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge about guidelines set forth in the following publications/resources: The General Rules Concerning University Organization and Procedure; Business and Financial Policies and Procedures Manual; State of Illinois Central Management Service (CMS) group insurance manuals, policies, and procedures; Payroll & Benefits Policies and Procedures.
Basic knowledge of Social Security, Medicare, benefit policies and procedures established by the State Universities Retirement System... For full info follow application link.
