Responsibilities

Pactiv Evergreen Inc is currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team at our location in Lake Forest, IL .

This Position is for Pactiv Evergreen Inc.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

+ Responsible for payroll accounting, restructuring, analysis, and reporting.

+ Create and post journal entries for general and payroll accounting.

+ Perform month end and year-end close processes as required including reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts, preparing/providing support schedules, journal entry preparation/posting, and SG&A-PR/Benefits analysis.

+ Exercise professional judgment in making appropriate recommendations for new accounts/cost centers, use of accounts, reconciling of balance sheet accounts, interpretation of policies, updates to SOP’s, and processes.

+ Make day-to-day decisions concerning the accounting treatment of financial transactions and recommends solutions to complex problems beyond incumbent’s scope of responsibility.

+ Understand and review/design accounting processes, policies and procedures.

+ Typically provides and coordinates separate or specialized accounting treatment and reporting (e.g., process cost, financial statements & reports) for different internal operations or divisions.

+ Conduct extensive data base mining and interpretation.

+ Manage tight deadlines for close and reporting purposes.

+ Document/update processes and continue to look for new ways to improve accurate and efficient practices.

+ Continually focus on improving systematic approach to identifying, solving, and preventing problems.

+ Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.

+ Collaborate with external/internal auditors and tax.

+ This position has access to confidential payroll information thus must be able to use discretion when providing information to others and uphold strict confidentiality standards.

+ Train backup personnel within the department to ensure responsibilities are dually covered.

+ Cross-train with other individuals in the department as part of the departments cross-functional/support environment.

+ May coach other accountants.

+ Ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications

To be considered, a candidate must possess:

+ BS/BA in finance or accounting required.

+ CPA or working towards CPA preferred but not required.

+ SAP experience required.

+ Understanding of GAAP and SOX controls.

+ 5 plus years of experience in corporate accounting environment preferably with payroll accounting.

+ Payroll reporting experience required or the aptitude therein to quickly adapt to such requirements.

+ Ability to work a flexible schedule during key reporting deadlines.

+ Be able to analyze gross amounts of data and understand what the transactions represent.

+ Demonstrated experience with general accounting, ERP systems (SAP), ADP, reporting packages (HFM), and Microsoft Excel.

+ Must have advanced analytical, problem solving, decision making, and be detail-oriented.

+ Ability to work a flexible schedule during key reporting deadlines.
