Perform independent audits of various bank processes to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable banking laws and regulations.
Job Description
major responsibilities: Maintain independence from daily operations of the bank.
Maintain proficient knowledge of applicable compliance statutes, regulations and interpretations - especially those related to risk management and internal controls.
Design, perform and document all work in such a manner that it can be easily reviewed and relied upon by external auditors, investors, and regulatory examiners.
Prepare concise written reports of internal audit scope, findings and recommendations.
Track outstanding issues and recommendations until satisfactorily resolved.
Identify training needs and convey observations to management.
Gather and organize items needed for investors, regulatory examiners and external auditors.
Specific Duties: Perform or assist in the completion of regular risk-based audits, as necessary to fulfill the annual audit plan, in retail or lending areas as assigned by the Internal Audit Director.
Perform the quarterly reconciliations of the following: Deposits, Loans, Loan Charge Offs and Recoveries, Other Real Estate Owned and Repossessions.
Perform or assist with branch surprise cash audits.
Assist with annual control testing as needed.
Perform other research projects as assigned by the Internal Audit Director.

Computer Requirements Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
Experience with FiServe Premier Platform, Navigator and Web Director a plus
Education/Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred, but not required
Banking experience preferred, but not required
Additional Requirements Basic understanding of internal auditing theory, standards, procedures, and techniques
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and techniques and banking laws and regulations
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently on multiple projects
Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain positive relationships with auditees
Attendance Requirements This is a full time position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with flexible work hours. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work, and to stay for their entire scheduled shift. certificates, licenses, or registrations: None required
