Position Summary
The Institute for Tuberculosis Research, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy studies essential enzymes in metabolic pathways of M. tuberculosis, focusing on identifying inhibitors against novel and essential targets. Identification, biochemical and kinetic characterization and optimization of new TB lead compounds for further biological study.

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform protein expression, purification, enzymatic assay, crystal screening, and prepare report/manuscripts for publication. Due to the nature and length of experiments, candidate must be willing to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays as needed, and will be responsible for preparing regular reports on the results of research conducted.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields. Documented experience in enzymatic assays, enzyme characterization, and site-directed mutagenesis is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of protein crystallography is highly desirable.
