Job Summary

S&C Electric Co is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems. Founded in 1911, the Chicago based company designs and manufactures switching and protection products for electric power transmission and distribution. Among those products are the TripSaver II and VacuFuse II. The job of the Electrical Engineer will be to help develop high voltage electromechanical products and assemblies and support their production. Team member will perform a variety of tasks involving analysis, development, testing and production implementation of components and assemblies. Team member must be able to perform duties requiring flexibility, self-guidance and resourcefulness with supervision by senior engineers and project managers.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist in the development and design of electro-mechanical products for power distribution systems, including reclosers, and other related components.
Work with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, sales representatives, and product managers, to ensure products meet customer needs and project timelines.
Participate in analyzing and solving technical issues related to product design and development.
Contribute to ensuring that all products meet industry standards, and relevant industry requirements.
Assist in testing and evaluating products to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction. Developing test methods, both mechanical and electrical, and working with laboratory personnel to perform tests. Interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data, identifying trends, preparing reports and formulating conclusions.
Participate in product launch activities, including operator training, technical support, and product documentation.
Investigate product performance issues, develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
Developing and implementing project plans, which include test plans and project schedules.


To be selected for this job, you must have the following:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, master's degree is a bonus.
Understanding of power distribution systems, including reclosers, circuit breakers, and other related components.
Familiarity with CAD software and other design tools is a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges.
Desire to work hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to operate successfully both independently and as part of a larger engineering team.


MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing: Occasional, during testing, sample preparation or process observation.
Lifting: Light lifting up to 30 lbs, infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs. for mock-up or test sample preparation.
Walking: Walking up to 1 mile within the company facility.
Carrying: Carrying of light objects for short distances.
Pushing: Infrequent use of manual hand truck to move samples or mock-ups.
Pulling: Infrequent use of manual hand truck to move samples or mock-ups.
Bending: Occasional bending during mock-up assembly or test sample preparation.
Reaching: Occasional reaching during mock-up assembly or test sample preparation.
Handling: Occasional handling of delicate parts & electronics and using hand and power tools during mock-up assembly or test sample preparation.
Environment: Physical demands are those mostly associated with a regular office and factory environment.
