PROJECT COORDINATOR (Collections and Accounts Receivable)
DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE
Accounts Receivable and Cost Recovery Division
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under direction, functions as a supervisor leading the work of projects and programs in the Accounts Receivable Division, and performs related duties as required
Directs the work of staff and oversees the billing and collections activities for various city debts, including city services, licenses, permits, tickets, fines, claims, warrants, emergency medical services (EMS), and City employee and sister agency debts
Develops and implements policies and procedures to maximize the effectiveness of billing and collection operations
Coordinates with other City departments, outside agencies, and vendors to ensure proper compliance with collection programs and procedures, and executes revenue initiatives
Supervises staff in day-to-day operations, including reviewing debt checks for accuracy and monitoring workflow deadlines
Conducts check processing, creates and reviews non-sufficient funds cases and processes refunds and exemptions
Develops works standards to ensure staff accountability, conducts staff performance evaluations, and tracks staff performance via CST (Customer Service Tracker), Avaya phone system, and Contact Center Multi-Media
Compiles statistical data, prepares reports on collections activities, and performs compliance audits
Identifies areas of opportunities and improvements and implements recommended changes necessary to ensure program and operational efficiency
Provides superior customer service to the public as related to job responsibilities, including handling escalated complaints
Directs staff in resolving billing and collection discrepancies
Coordinates training for billing and collection staff
Participates in the management of vendor contracts

DAYS & HOURS: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, supplemented by three years of progressively responsible experience in program administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Disclaimer - "Accredited" means any nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or law school where the applicant is enrolled in or has completed an Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Juris Doctorate degree program.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
Previous collections experience
Previous experience in medical billing and coding
Previous customer service experience
Previous experience leading and managing a team
A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or Finance
A Master's Degree or Juris Doctorate
Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of Tableau
