Duties and Responsibilities
Summary:
The Assistant Dean for Student Success reports to the Associate Dean for Student Success at Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago. The Assistant Dean for Student Success is responsible for all aspects of student programming, student organizations, and student leadership development. In addition, the Assistant Dean for Student Success supports the student transition to Arrupe College through supporting the Summer Enrichment Program (student orientation) and ACUNI courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Organizes and facilitates all aspects of student programming at Arrupe College, including social, cultural, and co-curricular / non-academic programming (will include occasional evening and weekend work).
Oversees and provides structure and advisement for Arrupe College's sponsored student organizations, including (but not limited to) the Dreamers and Allies Student Organization (DASO), the Student Government of Arrupe College (SGAC) and Black Men for Success (BMS).
Provides programming to support student leadership development, including an annual weekend-long leadership retreat, a leadership development seminar series, and training for Arrupe College's Summer Enrichment Program Orientation Leaders.
In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Student Success, plans and executes the Summer Enrichment Program, the orientation program for new students at Arrupe College.
In collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs, supports ACUNI courses and programs, especially ACUNI 101 (First-year Seminar) and 102 (Academic Success Strategies) as an instructor.
Serves as the primary liaison to related campus units at Loyola University Chicago, including (but not limited to) Athletics, Student Activities and Greek Affairs, Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, and Student Leadership Development.
Supervise Coordinator of Student Life
In collaboration with other staff and faculty, responds to immediate student needs and concerns as they arise.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master's Degree in related field and 3 year's experience required
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field with 2 - 3 years increasing job-related experience required.
Experience advising student organizations and planning student programs.
Experience designing and facilitating leadership development programs.
Knowledge of student development and leadership development theories.
Experience working with first-generation students and students of color; culturally competent.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Superior interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Workshop facilitation experience necessary; teaching experience preferred.
Ability to work and respond in an ever-changing and adaptable work environment.
Shows forward and creative thinking.
Knowledge of Jesuit higher education ideals and practices preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.

Computer Skills
Proficient with MS Office suite. Some capacity with Adobe design programs desired. Ability to learn and utilize instructional and administrative programs essential to supporting student success, including (but not limited to) LOCUS, Sakai, and Business Intelligence Reports.
