Duties and Responsibilities 
 Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Arrupe College,
the Assistant Dean will provide administrative direction on issues pertaining to academic

support programs, college transfer and alumni support services, and on University policies and procedures. The incumbent will serve as a referral source for faculty, students, and prospective students seeking various types of assistance at LUC's WTC.
Coordinate elements of First Year Student matriculation including math placement, course selection, advising and cohort assignment, and enrollment.
Co-chair the ACUNI Committee, which oversees two FYS seminar courses serving around 250 students per academic year. Duties include course scheduling, instructor and peer instructor assignments and training, and course development.
Facilitate and assess the Arrupe College Entrance and Exit Surveys, a component of the College's assessment plan.
Facilitate Early and Midterm Grade alert processes. Manage subsequent academic interventions including, but not limited to, Student Support Team meetings, retention and learning case management, and Midterm Sweeps.
Prepare and analyze reports on student academic progress and degree completion on a regular basis (e.g., at the 10-day census).
Supervise the academic probation, dismissal, and discontinuance processes and evaluate student appeals.
Manage degree audit and conferral processes for the College. Determine eligibility for Dean's List and laudatory status.
Monitor student academic satisfactory progress for students on scholarship. Determine and communicate new scholarship allocations to Advancement and the Office for Financial Assistance on a quarterly basis.
Coordinate student scholarship appeals, including to the Tuition Assistance Fund.
Execute the College's transfer back and permission to take coursework elsewhere policies in conjunction with the Graduate Support Coordinator and the Office for Registration and Records.
Manage course scheduling according to student demand and curricular needs. Schedule final exams.
Facilitate the extension of PT faculty contracts and the onboarding of new PT faculty. Update the College's online course catalog.
Support faculty advisors by providing timely information and training on College and University policies and initiatives related to degree requirements, registration, financial aid, academic support services, etcetera.
Oversee development, facilitation and assessment of academic support and retention programming including ACUNI, seminars, tutoring, math and writing fellows and Phi Theta Kappa.
Gather, manage, and report data related to student retention, transfer, and persistence data according to industry standards and institutional needs.
Organizes retention initiatives across the College; oversee implementation of and assess student retention framework including attendance tracking and outreach and the Arrupe Community Survey.
Direct college transfer and alumni support advising, ensuring coordination of transfer and academic advising functions
Support development and maintenance of pathways for bachelor degree completion at other LUC colleges
Liaises with the Office for Financial Assistance, Student Academic Services (especially the Continuum Coordinator), Undergraduate Admissions, and college advising to support alums who continue to a Loyola University Chicago bachelor's degree program.
Direct and supervise the activities of the Retention and Learning coordinator, the Graduate Support Coordinator, and the Post-Secondary Transitions coordinator.
Steer the Arrupe Student Worker Program including the application and hiring processes as well as student worker orientation, policies, and pay.
Represent the Office for Academic Affairs at individual events and in on-going collaborative activates and relationships (such as with community-based partners) and with other University units such as Student Success, Admissions, Registration and Records, the Office for Student Academic Services, and...
