Position Summary
The Clinical Nurse Consultant II is accountable for facilitating the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Clinical Nurse Consultant II provides patient care and consultation, coordinates the educational development of staff members and acts as a role model in clinical practice. The CNCII strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Clinical Nurse Consultant II participates in monitoring, developing, and evaluating nursing practice while fulfilling unit and organizational goals.

Duties & Responsibilities

Adheres to UI Health Code of Conduct.
Adheres to Nursing's time, overtime, and standards of performance.
Complies with University Health Services TB, flu compliance, and fit testing requirements.
Completes required orientation program and unit-specific competencies.
Conducts comprehensive, holistic wellness and illness assessments on pediatric patients using known or innovative evidence-based techniques, tools, and methods
Collaborates with multidisciplinary professionals to integrate evidence-based nursing interventions into a comprehensive plan of care to enhance pediatric patient outcomes
Evaluates effects of pediatric nursing interventions for individuals and populations of patients/clients for clinical effectiveness, patient responses, efficiency, cost effectiveness, customer satisfaction and ethical considerations.
Uses/designs appropriate methods and instruments to assess knowledge, skills and practice competencies of pediatric nurses and nursing personnel to advance the practice of nursing.
Identifies interpersonal, technological, environmental or system facilitators and barriers to implementing pediatric nursing practices that influence nurse-sensitive outcomes.
Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to implement innovative evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes for pediatric patients.
Mentor's nurses at all levels of the organization to acquire new skills and develop their careers.
Must have ability to flex schedule to education on all shifts, if needed
Other duties as assigned
Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide "quality" patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies.
Participates in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities; supports department and unit goals in daily behavior.
Accesses UI Health intranet/Outlook for relevant communication and to review and interpret changes in policy, procedure, and other information pertinent to practice.
