Description

The person who fills this position will be responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining environments running Microsoft Windows on HPE Server hardware, HP Workstations, and Azure Cloud. Supporting Microsoft and various 3rd party applications at our Data Centers, Head Quarters, Corporate Innovation Center, and Manufacturing Plants.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of a small team that works cooperatively to ensure system infrastructure and operating systems are available to support applications.
  • Analyze, evaluate, plan, implement, configure, patch, upgrade and tune software and hardware in virtualized, highly available and stand-alone environments.
  • Document procedures and update standards for new or modified systems and environments.
  • Follow Change Management policy and Incident resolution timelines. Open required Change Requests and Work Tickets. Respond to Change Requests, Work and Incident tickets assigned to team.
  • Respond to systems alerts and be part of rotation of after-hours on-call production support.
  • Review Microsoft security notifications and deploy updates if deemed necessary.
  • Gather, evaluate, and measure data on performance/capacity and report on key measurements.
  • Proactively identify problems and provide solutions to management before implementing change.
  • Prevent downtime, increase system availability, monitor performance, manage disk capacity, and ensure system security.
  • Work well with other IT teams and know their responsibilities.
  • Design solutions to technical problems and implementation of new systems or infrastructure changes.
  • Monitor critical systems and take corrective actions prior to failures.
  • Prepare for disaster recovery and ensure that appropriate backups are completed and tested.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware failures and identify network problems. Open necessary calls with vendors for support, prioritize and escalate.
  • Demonstrate Proof of Concepts with new software and hardware solutions.
  • Establish and maintain security and integrity controls.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of IT Operations background.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
  • Proficient in Power Shell and scripting to create, modify and execute scripts to perform needed system functions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange and Proofpoint Security Solutions.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Domain Controllers and DNS.
  • Implementation and management of Traditional, Hyper-Converged, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure running Windows Operating Systems,
  • Understanding and/or experience in technical support and in testing.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity of Windows file hierarchy structure, command line interface and network services.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
