This Legal Director role in the PepsiCo Foods North America (PFNA) team will support our Frito-Lay and Quaker businesses while joining a world class legal team! You will provide legal leadership, guidance, advice and support to PFNA Supply Chain and Operations in the areas of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and fleet safety. You will also have responsibility for reviewing sustainability-related projects and communications in support of our Pep+ agenda. 

This role is hybrid and can be based in any of our HQ locations: Plano, TX (preferred) Purchase, NY, or Chicago, IL. 

If not located in Plano, TX regular travel there will be required, in addition to occassional travel to other PFNA locations around the country regardless of location.

Responsibilities
EHS Support: This position will provide guidance and counsel to the business in the area of environmental compliance (USEPA, state, local environmental authorities), occupational health and safety (US OSHA, state OSHA) and fleet safety (US DOT FMCSA, state DOTs).  EHS and fleet safety legal support will include enforcement, permitting and compliance matters, EHS due diligence in connection with real estate and business transactions, supporting environmental remediation projects and supporting environmental litigation matters and litigation related to accidents and traffic incidents.  This position will engage and manage outside counsel as necessary.  

Day-to-day legal support of PFNA Supply Chain and Operations teams will include:
* Preparing communications with state and federal agencies and preparing local teams for agency interactions
* Manage and directly support EHS and fleet safety compliance audits across PFNA
* Manage and directly support the resolution of EHS enforcement matters across PFNA
* Manage and directly support counseling on fleet safety matters, including incident response, compliance and auditing across PFNA
* Develop and deliver EHS training to HQ and field clients
* Identify trends and issues and raise as appropriate
* Provide regular updates in areas of responsibility

PFNA Sustainability Support:
* Act as lead attorney to PFNA’s Sustainability function, including preparation of pep+ contracts/projects/agreements, counseling on ESG/green advertising, and supporting specific pep+ projects within PFNA
* Represent PFNA on PepsiCo Legal’s Sustainability Center of Excellence

Compensation and Benefits:
* The expected compensation range for this position is between $113,300 - $226,600
* Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
* Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 25% of annual salary paid out annually and an additional target payout of 10% of annual salary is paid out over 3 years following the end of the performance period.
* Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
* JD from an accredited law school
* 5+ years related legal experience, preferably gained at a corporate legal department of a large consumer products company and/or law firm; specialized coursework in environmental law preferred

Preferred Qualifications:
* Superior knowledge of EHS laws and regulations; working knowledge of FMCSRs a plus
* Experience in managing EHS legal enforcement matters, including orders, citations, civil and criminal judicial matters
* Practical knowledge of environmental science and occupational health and safety mechanics, including equipment and machinery risks and human functions
* Experience with EHS regulatory agencies and procedures
* Strong prioritization, efficiency and organization skills needed to independently handle/manage/oversee workload and high volume of requests on a weekly basis
