Job Description

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking to fill a full-time (40-hour week) Environmental Health Specialist I or Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training position. The selected candidate will perform inspections of retail food establishments.

An Environmental Health Specialist I must possess a Bachelor's Degree in environmental health or a closely related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in a physical or biological science and licensed as an Environmental Health Practitioner in Illinois.

An Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training must have a Bachelor's Degree in environmental health or a closely related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in a physical or biological science and must acquire an Illinois Environmental Health Practitioner's license within three (3) years of employment.

This position requires a valid driver's license, dependable transportation and proof of auto insurance. The selected candidate may be considered for a flexible or part-time remote work schedule after their standardized training has been completed.

The starting annual salary for an Environmental Health Specialist I is $49,524 for a 40-hour week; the annual salary for an Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training is $44,449 for a 40-hour week.
