What you'll do
As the VP of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical direction, innovation, and scalability of our CLM product and Document Management platform. You will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our contract management processes, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and maximizing operational efficiency throughout the contract lifecycle. This critical role will require strong leadership skills, deep understanding of contract management best practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Your extensive expertise in software architecture, full stack development, and team leadership will be instrumental in building and delivering high-performance, reliable, and scalable backend solutions to support our products and services.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the GVP, Product Engineering.
Responsibility
Formulate long term technology vision and strategy that delivers practical competitive advantage for DocuSign by delivering customer value
Drive foundational technical architecture that will enable our products to deliver groundbreaking innovation with simplicity of experience at internet scale
Lead engineering for delivering new innovations and cutting edge capabilities
Leverage and enable partner technologies and products
Manage a team of high potential engineers
Hire, grow and lead a world class engineering team as a magnet for hiring and developing great talent
Be a carrier and role model of our culture of high performance and innovation
Champion strong fundamentals (reliability, resiliency, data privacy, security, compliance)
Be responsible for several V1 initiatives to enhance and unlock new and innovative use cases for our customers
Have a passion for continuous improvement; have built learning organizations that keep up with the state of the art, and are an example and mentor to your team
Be responsible for delivering products that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt
Be an expert at agile continuous delivery, DevOps and TDD/BDD and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high-quality development environment
Dive deep into technology and are on the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies and help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team
Provide coaching and leadership in modern software development best practices
Obsess over great user experiences and will be a partner to product management, engineering, sales, operations, and other parts of the business
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
15+ years of combined software development & management experience across multiple languages and frameworks or equivalent experience
10+ years hands on software development or equivalent experience
5+ years managing software organizations over 100 people or equivalent experience
Preferred
Strong architectural insights with critical thinking
Creative and strategic thinker
Strong bias for action and driving for results
Flexible attitude with an ability to collaborate across multiple groups
Strong executive presence with the ability to work with C level internally and externally
