Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (AIRCRAFT) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0749000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard. Responsibilities As a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (AIRCRAFT) (TITLE 32), GS-1152-7/9, you will provide planning, scheduling, and control of aircraft maintenance through a variety of maintenance shops. Major Duties – This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Coordinate with Material Control on mission capable (MICAP) and non-mission capable status (NMCS) of parts, adjustments to in-shop work priorities, and verification of urgency of need designators. Coordinate with Quality Assurance on functional check flight (FCF) requirements, Air Operations on flying schedule, other maintenance shops for coordination of repair work, and with other functional areas as required. Request necessary support services such as firefighting activity standby, fuel and defuel and civil engineer support. Implement preliminary (advance) maintenance plans for assigned weapon systems and schedule immediate maintenance for transient aircraft. Designate, maintain, and monitor current maintenance repair priorities of aircraft to ensure actuality and compliance with flying schedules. Authorize and assign aircraft maintenance jobs, job control numbers either manually or through a computerized maintenance system, work priorities, and start and completion times for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of aircraft. Maintain visual aids depicting status of maintenance actions in progress, special list availability and status of aerospace vehicles, aerospace ground equipment (AGE), training equipment, transportation and tow vehicles, munitions loads, arming of guns and munitions, and location of aircraft and dispatched AGE. Develop and maintain current procedural check sheets for use during actions such as mass loads combat turnaround, broken arrow (nuclear emergency), emergency notification, aircraft crash, flightline fire, and severe weather warning evacuation. Make required inputs to the automated data system and retrieve data and/or computer-generated products as required. Monitor progress of job completion by dispatched personnel. Control maintenance on assigned aircraft and related support and training equipment. Control the maintenance communications and transportation systems to provide for the effective transmission of information and movement of material and maintenance personnel. Conduct training of assigned military personnel. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted Only – Minimum grade of MSgt. Maximum grade of SMSgt. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education, or training which indicates you can reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understanding the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Level – MUST possess specialized experience which includes 24 months experience preparing job or work orders; scheduling various phases of projects into the production facility; following up to see if work is progressing as planned and arranging for adjustments in materials, machine processes, and work sequencing allowing for changes; and experience with current automation support programs to input data, provide status of equipment, and monitor job order status, monitor work priorities, requisition repair parts, track repair parts status, etc. GS-07 Level – MUST possess specialized experience which includes 12 months experience working with people from various levels and backgrounds; experience with general knowledge of the functions and procedures of production control, records, references, and techniques for developing production control data; and experience assisting or maintaining workflow. In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
