Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0097000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8268-5/8/10, you will serve as a Pneudraulic Svstem Mechanic within a fuel systems shop responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of aircraft fuel cells, water injection, entidetonant (ADI), and inflight refueling systems. Major Duties โ€“ This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Utilize electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics and technical publications, determine extent and type of preventative and/or repair maintenance required. Perform organizational and intermediate maintenance on aircraft fuel systems, components, and equipment to include fuel cells, drop tanks, regulators, pumps, relief valves and fuel accessories Diagnose and overhaul fuel accessories by disassembling, cleaning, and examining parts for corrosion, scratches, cracks or other damage. Replace gaskets and worn parts, reassemble accessories, adjust and test to insure proper operation in accordance with standards in technical data. Perform required maintenance activities associated with time compliance technical orders (TCTO) involving aircraft fuel systems, inflight refueling systems and related components. Connect power sources, and using cockpit controls, gauges and additional precision instruments, perform operational and functional checks of inflight refueling, single point refueling and fuel transfer systems and related valves, pumps, switches, selectors, and control devices. Perform leak check of aircraft fuel systems by visual inspection or by removal of panels and dye tracing fuel leaks. Examine faulty components and determine feasibility of repair, replacement and/or need for submitting unsatisfactory reports. Repair, reassemble, and install fuel system components and perform operational tests using bench and other related test equipment. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted Only โ€“ Minimum rank of A1C. Maximum rank of TSgt. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level โ€“ MUST possess specialized experience which includes experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines; experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems; experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts; experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies; experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems; experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment; and experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
