Decision Science

The Sr. Director, Head of Owned Channels and Enterprise Decision Science will lead our team of data engineering and decision scientists. This leader will drive the evolution of our data infrastructure and operations leveraging cutting-edge technologies and tools to enhance our data management and analytics capabilities across the TIAA enterprise.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

+ Lead and manage the TIAA marketing data engineering and decision science team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to achieve department goals and objectives. Be invested in the growth of individuals on the team and support their career aspirations within the company

+ Develop and execute a strategy to modernize data operations, migrating to a cloud-based data stack. Evaluate and implement cloud-based tools, technologies, and services to streamline data sourcing, centralization, ETL processes, CI/CD, and code version management.

+ Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data quality management and assurance processes, ensuring accurate and reliable data across all systems.

+ Drive the adoption of data modeling tools and reverse ETL tools for efficient data activation and transfers, while incorporating real-time data technologies into the data engineering solutions.

+ Establish strong documentation practices and promote data governance, cataloging, and master data management principles.

+ Work closely with the Data Science, Marketing XFN, Technology & Product management teams to understand data requirements and deliver reliable and accessible data for business reporting and analytics

+ Collaborate with enterprise systems, integrations and ecommerce development teams to ensure seamless integration of data engineering solutions.

+ Manage and coordinate hybrid teams consisting of onshore and offshore resources, including vendors and external partners.

+ Implement robust monitoring processes for business-critical reporting, ensuring timely delivery of accurate data to executive-level stakeholders.

+ Develop and enforce escalation and communication protocols to address any disruptions in data delivery or reporting processes.

Required Qualifications:

+ 5+ years of data engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience in a leadership or management role

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience in-lieu of.

+ 7+ Hands-on programming experience in SAS/Python/R and SQL, stored procedures. Experience with data visualization/manipulation tools such as Tableau, Alteryx.

+ Experience with common source systems and platforms Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics and other marketing execution tools

+ Experience in utilizing typical tools and technologies in data management such as Snowflake, CDPs, etc

+ Strong expertise in modernizing legacy data operations and development of data warehousing on Snowflake

+ In-depth knowledge and experience of data engineering best practices, ETL operations and incorporating CI/CD methodologies into data engineering team’s workflows

+ Good to have experience with real time data solutions and event-driven architectures

+ Experience in implementing data quality management processes, data governance, cataloging, and master data management principles

+ Strategic thinking with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and deliver projects within established timelines

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

+ Experience managing hybrid teams, including offshore and onshore resources and vendors

Base Pay Range: $112,700/yr. – $155,300/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
