Overview

The Sr. Buyer will be part of the strategic sourcing team for paper and/or packaging, reporting to a Senior Director. The position is responsible for management of all aspects of a managed category spend including; negotiation and execution of supply agreements, development and implementation of a category strategy, owning supplier relationship, sourcing innovative technologies to differentiate the PTVE and consistently deliver year-over-year savings to the bottom line.

Ideally this person will work a hybrid schedule- 2 days a week in Lake Forest, IL but we are open to 100% remote.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Assist Procurement Sr. Director / Category Managers in developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies for paperboard and/or packaging.

2. Own and drive day-to-day supplier management including cost, delivery and quality for assigned areas of responsibility.

3. Support RFP’s, evaluate proposals, negotiate price and award business.

4. Identify and develop new sources for categories as needed.

5. Facilitate supplier discussions and bring to fruition activities to support improved material flow, strategic projects and cost reduction objectives.

6. Monitor supplier performance & identify cost reduction and productivity improvements.

7. Develop, analyze and present sourcing data to assist with targeting potential savings initiatives and developing improved supplier performance.

8. Identify bottlenecks in the supply-chain process and implement solutions to improve performance and mitigate risk.

9. Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to implement cost reductions, streamline business processes and meet the needs of the business and customers.

10. Produce annual budgets for key materials using statistical, historical and market data.

11. Provide monthly price and market updates as a measure against budget. Provide monthly pricing as needed to update SAP outline agreements and standard costs.

12. Work with Regulatory Affairs team and suppliers to ensure 100% regulatory compliance

Qualifications

Skills and Competencies:

1. Demonstrated ability to comfortably and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

2. Utilize interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance. Must have the ability to persuade stakeholders internally and suppliers externally through strong relationships

3. Demonstrated ability to easily interface with plant personnel, manage projects and drive cost and process improvement

4. Analytical Skills – Must be able to relate & compare, securing relevant information and identifying key issues. This includes seeking and organizing information, and conducting relevant data analysis

5. Financial & Qualitative Acumen – Demonstrate an understanding of the use, interpretation and impact of key quantitative and financial measures

6. Visionary – Must be able to challenge existing processes and paradigms

7. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment while also delivering independent results and maintaining calm composure

Qualifications – Mandatory

1. B.S in Supply Chain or related field from a four-year accredited college or university.

2. At least 6-8 years’ experience in procurement or a related field

1. General understanding of supplier markets and ability to perform market analysis

2. Strong Microsoft Office (Excel/PowerPoint/Word) and analytical skills

1. Ability to prioritize and multi-task work in fast paced environment interacting with plant personnel, suppliers and internal stakeholders

1. Ability to travel as needed for conferences, trainings, meetings, etc. (~ 15%)

Qualifications – Preferred

1. SAP Experience

2. Paper & Packaging experience – experience managing one or more categories of: paperboard, recovered fiber, pulp, corrugated, folding cartons, flexible packaging, labels, adhesives and pallets.

The compensation rang is specific to the and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is$81,400-$135,600.
