Robert Half is working with a reputable company to find an efficient Payroll Clerk to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will be expected to support the Payroll/Accounting team in a variety of duties, including data entry, reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution and providing statements to various departments. You should have the capability to effectively communicate with both the internal team and outside customers. This Payroll Clerk position is ideal for individuals seeking a challenging position with a prominent industry leader. Based on site in the Rock Island, Illinois area, this position would be needed on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Prepare and process payroll for unionized employees in accordance with established policies and union agreements.

+ Verify and reconcile timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll-related data.

+ Calculate and process payroll deductions, including union dues, taxes, and benefit contributions.

+ Assist in the resolution of payroll discrepancies and provide support to employees with payroll inquiries.

+ Collaborate with union representatives to address any payroll-related issues or concerns.

+ Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.

+ Maintain accurate payroll records and generate payroll reports as needed.

+ Keep updated on changes in labor laws and union agreements that may impact payroll processing.

Requirements

Qualifications:

+ High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in accounting or a related field is a plus.

+ Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a unionized environment.

+ Strong knowledge of labor laws, union agreements, and payroll regulations.

+ Proficiency in using payroll software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.

+ Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

+ Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
