The Opportunity

Our location in Lake Forest, IL currently has an opportunity for a Senior Accountant . This role is based in the office Monday through Friday.

The (ARDx) Senior Accountant performs accounting activities that require an understanding of accounting and operational aspects of the finance and accounting systems. ARDx is utilizing the Abbott HFM financial consolidation system and SAP system and this position is instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely submissions of actuals to Abbott Corporate. To succeed in this position, the candidate should be well-organized and possess strong leadership, analytical, communication, financial systems, and excel skills.

What You’ll Work On

+ Execute timely and accurate financial activities in support of business partners.

+ Responsible for ARDx assigned entity month-end closing activities, including, journal entry preparation, account analysis, intercompany transfers and account reconciliations.

+ Assist in preparation of ARDx and Abbott Corporate Management monthly financial reporting packages.

+ Assist in the preparation of assigned entity Statutory Audits

+ Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures.

+ Provide support for internal and external audits and Corporate Tax requests.

+ Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures for assigned activities.

+ Operate independently, be flexible in changing environment and challenge the status quo.

+ Perform configuration and testing related to existing or new processes/implementations as needed.

+ Participate in ARDx process improvement reviews across current finance structure, identify areas requiring change and support the change process.

+ Support all Company initiatives and ad-hoc requests as identified by ARDx management.

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, Associate Degree is required.

+ 4 or more years progressively responsible Accounting experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience with large ERP system; SAP preferred.

+ Strong Microsoft skills, including use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s and analysis of data using Excel, some VBA macros knowledge helpful.

+ CPA preferred.


+ Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

+ Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

+ Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

+ Requires knowledge of accounting regulations of operational accounting issues.

+ Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

+ Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

+ Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

+ Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
