Aviation Planner
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill a full time Aviation Planner position. Hanson office location is flexible including Indianapolis, Indiana, Lisle or Springfield, IL, St. Louis, MO, Nashville, TN, and Sarasota or Jacksonville, FL. Other geographies will be considered based on experience and the ability of the candidate to work autonomously and/or offer new client or market opportunities.

Position Profile
This position is expected serve as a technical and project resource in the Hanson aviation planning program. This position will serve airport planning clients in the midwest in southeast and southcentral U.S. geographies.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Responsible for preparing airport master plans, airport layout plans, site selection studies, obstruction analysis, forecasting, noise and environmental evaluations, terminal plans, sustainability evaluations, business plans, and other airport planning tasks and projects. Additional job functions will be to assist the aviation market in smart airport planning programs and lead or assist in writing smart airport grant applications. Communicate analysis results in the form of technical memoranda, reports, graphic displays, and presentations to government bodies and elected officials as part of the aviation planning process Participate in preparation of technical proposals, scope of work development, and external relationship building and technical presentations Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Technical Skills:
+ Experience in complex and controversial projects
+ Experience with Microsoft Office software
+ Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or ArcGIS
+ Experience with AEDT and/or AviPlan Turn preferred
+ Experience with managing project financials preferred
Soft Skills:
+ Must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to technical staff, public officials, and the general public in both written and oral format
+ Must be able to build effective relationships with internal and external client bases
+ Must be able to work independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skills
+ Must demonstrate an interest in experiencing a variety of assignments and responsibilities
Education/Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Aviation Management, Civil Engineering or a relevant field required.
+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant airport planning experience with increasing responsibilities and project leadership required
+ Must have a strong working knowledge of FAA advisory circulars and orders
+ Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, airport boards, FAA and regulatory organizations required
+ Proven experience as a project manager and/or task leader on airport planning projects desired
+ Experience in mentoring and supervising junior staff preferred
+ Preferred additional qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in relevant field
+ Following certifications: AICP, AAE, CM, LEED, ENV SP, etc.
Working at Hanson:
+ Must be willing and able to work overtime to meet project needs and deadlines
+ Travel to client location or regulatory agencies for project related tasks is expected
+ Some travel may involve overnight stays
