Job Summary
The Data Center Network Operations Supervisor will lead exciting new projects including switch upgrades, router replacements and SD-WAN deployment.
You will manage a team of network engineers, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and conducting training to ensure that the team is equipped to roll out new projects, handle network maintenance and support efficiently.
This is a visible role as you collaborate with other IT teams to coordinate network upgrades, expansions, and new technology implementations.
You will participate in the resolution of critical production issues and root cause analysis, ensure proper procurement, installation, deployment, and configuration of network systems corresponding to technology policies. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage the team and network infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities
Team Leadership
Manage and guide a team of network engineers, administrators and technicians, delegating tasks and providing training to ensure efficient network maintenance and support.
Network Infrastructure Management
Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of the data center's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, servers, and cabling.
Projects
Lead data center projects and initiatives, including core switch upgrades, router replacements, and SD-WAN deployment.
Documentation
Develop and maintain the network infrastructure documents and diagrams for the branch networks. Documents include branch IP networks and VLANs, and ACL rules. Prepare regular reports on network performance, issues, and improvements.
Network Monitoring
Utilize monitoring tools to continuously track network performance, security, and resource utilization, promptly addressing any deviations.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
Identify and resolve network-related issues, such as connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks, and hardware failures.
Network Performance Optimization
Ensure high performance and availability by continuously monitoring and optimizing the network for speed, efficiency, and scalability.
Policy Development
Develop and implement network usage policies, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
MAC
Drive additions, decommissions, or changes to the data center network.
Budgeting and Resource Allocation
Manage the network-related budget, making strategic decisions for resource allocation and technology upgrades.
Upgrades and Migrations
Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions in alignment with the data center's goals and future requirements.
Capacity Planning
Assess network capacity needs, anticipate growth, and plan for scaling the network infrastructure as necessary.
Compliance and Regulations
Ensure the network infrastructure complies with industry standards, regulations, and data protection laws.
Continuous Improvement
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance network performance, security, and efficiency through new technologies and practices.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record of leading teams.
At least 8 years of experience in overseeing data network operations.
Experience overseeing managed service providers.
Knowledge of router/switch technologies, standards and best practices including previous proficiency in deploying, integrating, monitoring, and supporting.
Expertise in managing a highly available and scalable Cisco LAN / WAN.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
