Alight's Engagement Services practice is seeking a Production Editor to join our Creative Studio team. You would join our consolidated team of award-winning designers, content strategists, and production editors. As a professional services team, our Creative Studio consultants are passionate about developing creative strategies to solve problems, shift perceptions, and drive employee behaviors for our clients.
We're looking for a talented Production Editor who must have an exceptional aptitude for editing, and an unfailing dedication to quality. Very high proofreading skills are required. Production editors must have significant editorial experience, and they have to balance it with the needs of the work as defined by clients and internal team members. They must work closely and in good relationship with all, but particularly Alight designers and writers. A good sense of overall business goals is crucial, as there is a continual need to adjust priorities and point of focus. Production editors must be able to shift back and forth from a broad perspective to one of fine detail in quick succession.
This is a virtual/work-from-home/remote opportunity available anywhere in the U.S. with primarily Central Time zone hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review documents for grammar, spelling, and style
Fact-check dates and other statements for accuracy
Ensure we are working within client's brand and style/tone guides
Mark up all documents utilizing high level of Adobe PDF markup
Closely monitor schedules and deadlines for individual projects
Ability to be able to suggest rewrites and or more complicated edits
Knowledge and Expertise
5+ years' experience in production editing
Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Fact checking and research experience a must
Must be familiar with AP and other style guides
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobatl
Ability to negotiate and make targeted decisions quickly to build credibility
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Able to understand individual project/team roles/responsibilities and go beyond to add value
Accountable for delivering with excellence and profitability
Any HR/Benefits experience a plus
