To provide expertise to drive process safety risk management (PSRM) activities within a Region to achieve compliance with JM policies and guidance and build a process safety excellence culture. To lead group-wide process safety risk assessments, audits, training and development of JM policies and guidance.

Your responsibilities:

+ In driving PSRM activities by partnering within a Region and being main point of contact for several specified applicable process sites

+ To support and develop the Site Process Safety Leads to improve their understanding of PSRM activities.

+ To regularly review and ensure accuracy and robust implementation, analyse trends and develop. improvement plans based on key process safety performance indicators.

+ To ensure on-time completion of key PSRM programmes to meet target dates, e.g. PHR’s, gap analyses.

+ To track and press for on-time completion of high-risk actions from PSRM studies/audits.

+ To monitor progress and support key PSRM training programmes, e.g. PSMO.

+ To contribute to and review relevant management of change activities and ensure that pre-start-up reviews are completed.

+ To advise on response to process safety incidents and facilitate root cause analysis and sharing of lessons learned.

+ To carry out periodic audits/inspections during site visits, including EHS 2nd line of defence MCE ‘deep dive’ audits, to maintain focus on process safety.

+ To improve and develop PSRM practices to ensure they are embedded and sustainable, and driving process safety culture excellence.

+ To provide advice on the impact of local and international regulations and standards.

+ To effectively carry out the accountabilities listed above, it is expected that site visits of 3-4 day duration will be required every 2 months at defined high risk sites, every 6 months on medium risk sites, and annually on low risk sites.

+ In leading Group-wide PSRM activities;

+ To lead and carry out QA reviews on hazard studies (incl. HAZOP, PHR, LOPA, SCTA) and risk assessments (incl. RHA, DHA, HAC, QRA, Modelling) on JM applicable process sites.

+ To facilitate and provide expertise for the development and design of capital projects to ensure inherently safe design of new plant and equipment and all risks identified and properly managed.

+ To be a key team member in PSRM audits to assess site’s compliance with JM policies and guidance.

+ To lead the development and update of Group-level PSRM systems and practices.

+ To assess and mentor internal/external Hazard Study Leaders to progress from Trainee to Practitioner.

+ To develop and facilitate process safety training programmes to improve awareness and understanding, using JM resources or external consultants.

+ To become a ‘subject matter expert’ on selected process safety topics to provide authoritative advice.

+ To collaborate with Business/Group PS network to share learning and best practice.

+ To undertake individual competency assessments of JM staff in process safety critical roles.

+ To take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Requirements for the role:

+ Degree qualified, typically Chemical Engineering or other Engineering discipline

+ At least 10 years of broad relevant experience in high-hazard process operations/technical support

+ Deep knowledge of process safety methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, QRA) and JM PSRM policy and guidance and related international codes and standards

+ At least 5 years’ experience as a competent Hazard Study Leader

+ Significant experience in the development and application of PSRM procedures within the high hazard industries – Desired

+ Evidence of continuing professional development in the field of Process Safety – Desired

+ Significant experience working in an operations-based role in Chemicals or Pharmaceuticals – Desired

+ Able to communicate passionately about process safety and have a positively impact on the culture.

+ Stature to network and build good working relationships at all levels in the organization.

+ Effective decision making and influencing skills in order to deliver the desired results.

+ Ability to lead, mentor and develop others to achieve successful outcomes

+ Ability to influence and sustain effective change.

+ A global mind-set and experience gained in a multi-cultural environment – Desired
