How does this role contribute to our collective success?

Within the Chief Underwriting Office, the Actuarial Pricing department is responsible for developing consistent pricing practices across the AXIS Insurance and Reinsurance segments. We are accountable for Technical Price Modelling, Transactional Pricing, Profitability Analyses, New Business Due Diligence, Business Planning, and Price Monitoring to influence underwriting strategies and portfolio management.

As a Pricing & Analytics Actuary concentrated on Global Professional Lines with subject premium $1.5B+, this role will directly advance AXIS’s capabilities toward pricing sophistication, portfolio optimization, and analytics-driven underwriting expertise. This role will report directly to the Global Head of Professional Lines Pricing and will lead on projects spanning the Global PL product suite to improve technical pricing, facilitate data & analytics integration, conduct profitability benchmarking, and shape portfolio composition.

What will you do in this role?

In this role you will:

- Directly support the Head Actuary for Global Professional Lines Pricing in implementing consistent pricing standards and portfolio analysis frameworks across the product set

- Conduct analyses of technical pricing data in partnership with the regional pricing teams, to enable calibration of technical pricing models, enhanced premium adequacy benchmarking and reporting

- Contribute to the quarterly product monitoring analysis cycle by supporting back-end data architecture and front-end standard reporting, to quickly identify portfolio trends, facilitate the development of action plans, and monitor progress

- Lead in-depth actuarial profitability studies on individual classes as required, evaluating key performance drivers and portfolio trends

- Coordinate with the Pricing, Exposure Management, Product, and CUO teams in the development of exposure measures and risk appetites for each product

- Develop frameworks for gathering, analyzing, and reporting relevant industry benchmark metrics on Professional Lines classes

- Perform treaty pricing of standard reinsurance deals for Professional & Cyber Lines of Business during peak periods, and develop expertise toward pricing increasingly complex treaty structures

- Assist with evaluating feasibility of third-party data partnerships for integration into the underwriting & pricing processes

About You:

Expectations:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management, or a similar field which demonstrates an affinity and talent for quantitative analysis.

- Associate or Fellow of an accredited Actuarial Society, or commensurate experience.

- Experience utilizing SQL / VBA / R, Python, or similar to manipulate complex databases.

- Knowledge of technical price modelling and experience-based rating concepts

- Familiarity with Management Liability and Errors & Omissions insurance products and concepts

- Able to self-start own tasks and be proactive with thought leadership

- Able to develop, recommend and implement new approaches

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be expected to be in the office averaging 3 days per week and as required to perform your job duties with appropriate flexibility.

For this position, we expect to offer a base salary in the range of USD 165,000 to USD 185,000 (Chicago) and USD 180,000 to USD 200,000 (New York). Expected salary range information for London available on candidate request. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
