Discover Financial Services is looking to add a Sr. Associate Analyst to join their Social Engineering and Education team to support the organizations’ goal of identifying and defending against SE threats to the firm. As a Sr. Associate Analyst on the team you will participate in designing and executing email phishing simulations, on-site removable media drops, conduct telephony based attack simulations, present findings and metrics to a broad audience and grow with the program as it matures. Candidates should apply if they have a strong desire to educate others on the dangers posed by Social Engineering, think like an attacker and act like a defender, enjoy working collaboratively with Cyber Threat Intelligence and Security Operations teams, doing data analysis and research, and overall believes that working together we can improve our knowledge and intelligence around SE attacks.

As a Senior Associate Incident & Threat Analyst you will analyze incidents and identify and mitigate threats. Senior Associate Analysts collaborate with incident response teams to evaluate Discover’s cyber defense posture, processes, and procedures in context to given threats. You’ll create meaningful, actionable outputs to improve detection and prevention capabilities. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate with the Cyber Threat Intelligence team to assess and analyze global trends in Social Engineering Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures to ensuring alignment with our Social Engineering program initiatives.

+ Monitor and evaluate emerging trends in email based Social Engineering attacks and track over time.

+ Identify control gaps and collaborate on potential solutions to resolve those gaps, specific to the SE area of responsibility

+ Collaborate with senior members of the team on developing educational materials for enterprise staff to be used by the Education & Awareness team.

+ Tailor content to the attacks observed by the company and those targeting the Financial Services space.

+ Conduct simulated email phishing campaigns targeting staff at the firm, both general and spear-phishing.

+ Craft custom lures based on current attacks observed by the firm and reported by it’s staff

+ Participate in site specific Social Engineering simulations

+ Present at monthly and quarterly briefings on Social Engineering metrics and emergent SE trends.

+ Participate in awareness training activities designed to educate staff on overall threats from SE attacks

+ Assist in creation and maintenance of reporting metrics such as KRI’s and KPI’s

+ Assist in development and execution of Social Engineering scenarios utilizing removable media, telephony, and IT assets owned by the company.

+ Collaborate and Partner with the Human Resources group on maintaining the Corrective Action plans associated with the Social Engineering program

+ Maintain and develop job aids and program documentation

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

+ Bachelors – Computer Science, Information Security or related

+ 2+ Years – Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Analytics or related

+ In lieu of a degree 4+ Years – Information Security, Computer Science, Data Analytics or related

Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of advanced beginner on the Dreyfus cybersecurity scale

Preferred Qualifications

+ Ability to synthesize technical information into non-technical content such as documentation, graphics, and presentation materials

+ Knowledge of existing Threat Actors known to utilize SE in their operations

+ Great Written and Oral communication

+ Desire to learn and improve

+ Working knowledge of email protocols and email header analysis

+ Familiarity with regular expressions

+ SANS SEC467: Social Engineering for Security Professionals

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $65,000.00 to $109,800.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
