The Opportunity

This position works in the Legal Division onsite out of our headquarters at Abbott Park, Illinois or Chicago, Illinois at Abbott’s Willis Tower location.

The Manager, Information Governance Technology will join the Information Governance and Records team and support data management initiatives across Abbott. The position reports to Senior Counsel, Information Governance, and interacts with stakeholders in Abbott IT, Legal and Compliance, and the business.

What You’ll Work On

+ Provide oversight to the Data Lifecycle Management program, which ensures that Abbott systems properly manage and protect records and comply with data minimization principles.

+ Drive continued advancement of data protection and management policies and processes at Abbott (such as information classification, unstructured data governance, and trade secret protection) in coordination with other stakeholders in Legal and the Office of Ethics and Compliance, Enterprise Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and the business divisions.

+ Advise on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) at Abbott, including enhancing the potential benefits and mitigating the risks of Generative AI technologies.

+ Develop requirements, investigate vendors, and implement projects to identify and test data and records management solutions in close coordination with Infrastructure and Enterprise Cybersecurity.

+ Serve as a point of contact for Information Governance and Records support of projects relating to the remediation of legacy environments and data stores.

+ Assist businesses with records management processes and workflows; develop training for key Information Governance and Records concepts and processes.

+ Work collaboratively with other Information Governance and Records team members to advance the purposeful management of Abbott information; potential for managing a two-person team.

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a scientific field, or equivalent experience.

+ Working knowledge of software systems including enterprise systems, databases, infrastructure, networks, and other technical domains.

+ At least 7 years of experience in large, complex program and project management, with a minimum of 5 years in a technology environment.

+ Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 (e.g., Excel, SharePoint, macros).

+ Strong attention to detail and documentation.

+ Ability to quickly assimilate knowledge of processes, frameworks, and technologies.

+ Strong time management, organizational and priority setting skills.

+ Ability to adapt readily to change and to work across multiple areas.

+ Ability to work effectively within a team and as an individual contributor and potentially as a people manager in a fast-paced environment.

+ Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely across organization levels and build effective working relationships.

+ Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience in a large corporate environment, along with ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization.

+ Experience developing policies and procedures.

+ Experience with software lifecycle processes and documentation.

+ Legal education or experience working with attorneys.

+ Experience with data analytics and artificial intelligence/machine learning.

The base pay for this position is $109,300.00 – $218,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
