The Opportunity

The EPC Project Director for Electric Gridwillfunction in a project and commercial leadership capacity. You will own the bottom-line for a portfolio of EPC and services projects primarily encompassing transmission, distribution, and substations. There is also potential to own projects in other areas of grid such as BESS and private networks. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Manage a portfolio of some of themost visible projects within Black & Veatch.

+ Lead projects that have substantial impact within various global communities.

+ Mentor and supervise project managers in a high-growth area of our organization.

Please note: This role has substantial travel as needed to project and client sites. When not travelling, this role will be hybrid: 2 days per week remote, 3 days per week in-office out of any of Black and Veatch’s offices in the Southeast US region. It is a plus if you are near our offices in Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; or Arlington, VA.

The Team

Our Grid solutions serve our clients to provide study level to full-scale EPC execution for electric power solutions such as Transmission, Distribution, Substations, BESS, and Private Networks solutions. As a Project Manager you are the execution hub for our clients and project teams, providing leadership and alignment for successful electric grid projects. Our Energy & Process business is driven to meet clients’ rapidly changing sustainability needs in generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of safe, reliable electric power. Key Responsibilities

+ Directs complex projects requiring global resources and multiple partners or multiple PMs.

+ Manages multiple clients and/or accountable for implementing expanded new business objectives.

+ Oversees and delivers opportunities for new/repeat business, finalizing key contract negotiations with client executives and project managers.

+ Manages broad and varied complex risk profile.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.

Preferred Qualifications

+ 12+ years of relevant industry experience including at least one of the following:

+ 3+ years as a Sr. Project Manager or Project Director for an EPC firm focusing on at least one of the followingtechnologies (Transmission, Distribution, or Substations including overhead, underground, or HV).

+ 3+ years in a leadership role where you were the ownerfor EPC T&D/Substation projects and working with an EPC firm.

+ 3+ years in a project leadership role (not including PMO or strictly operations)at an organization that focuses on utility-scale T&D/Substation construction and/or design.

+ Experience negotiating contracts with clients in the energy utility space.

+ Experience managing construction teams directly in both a direct-hire and/or subcontract constructionenvironment.

+ Experience managing risk for EPC T&D/Substationprojects.

+ Deep knowledge of the utility-scale T&D/Substation market.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
