SSM Health – Illinois seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join our established Endocrinology team in Mt. Vernon. The successful candidate will join our Medical Group and will be affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital (http://www.ssmhealth.com/locations/illinois/good-samaritan-hospital-mt-vernon) in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, in a full-time position.
This is an employed position with SSM Health – Good Samaritan Hospital, a premier hospital system located in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, where easy access is available to St. Louis, Chicago, Evansville, Indianapolis, Lexington, Louisville, Memphis and Nashville.

Successful candidates must have/be:
+ Successful completion of an accredited NP or PA school
+ Hold current Board Certification.
+ Experienced endocrinology provider is preferred, however a new graduates will not be excluded, with preference given to those with previous Diabetic Educator experience.
+ Active Illinois APN or PA license is preferred.

Job Summary:
In collaboration with physician(s), demonstrates and provides professional nursing care to specialty patients requiring an advanced level of knowledge and management of their nursing care.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Initiates and provides medical interventions in response to acute changes in patient conditions.
+ Provides educational services to nursing and ancillary departments and serves as an educational consultant on clinical practice issues.
+ Applies evidence based practices to achieve multidisciplinary collaboration to facilitate continuity of care.
+ Contributes to the satisfaction of the medical staff by collaborating with physicians to deliver best care.
+ Recognizes and utilizes opportunities to act as a change agent by introducing nursing practice innovations.
+ Evaluates nursing practices associated with specialty area, defines needs/problems with patient care and makes constructive suggestions that creates a positive patient outcome.
+ Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
+ Completion of a formal post-basic education program from or formally affiliated with an accredited college, university or hospital (Before July 1, 1998) or a graduate degree from an accredited college or university (After July 1, 1998) with a concentration in the appropriate advanced practice nursing clinical specialty area.
+ Board certification by a national recognized certifying board in the appropriate population focus
+ Current or compact RN license in appropriate state
+ Appropriate APRN license or document of recognition in appropriate state
EXPERIENCE
+ One year experience

+ Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
