The Director Operations for Leica Biosystems is responsible for leading the growth and transformation of the diverse medical device manufacturing operations for the Anatomical Pathology chemical formulations, histology cassettes, kitting, microscopy glass slides manufacturing, and pathology imaging and life sciences instruments assembly and testing.

This position is part of the Operations function located in Richmond, IL and will be an on-site position. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

You will be a part of the Richmond Operations team and report to the VP, Operations and Supply Chain responsible for providing hands-on leadership to associates working in Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Science and Engineering. Improve and drive capabilities of new and existing processes and/or equipment, achieve cost reduction and drive performance related to product quality, on-time delivery, and margin expansion. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

+ Ensures implementation of strategic initiatives, tactics and goals of the strategic plan.

+ Achieve consistent on-time delivery of Manufacturing Engineering and Science projects through strong project management, active risk management and a dynamic team culture.

+ Partner with LBS’s Supply Chain to ensure efficient and effective demand planning and phase-in/phase out of new and obsolete products.

+ Maintain high standards of operational excellence as measured by safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and delivery.

+ Drive margin expansion through structured approaches to materials and labor productivity improvement.

+ Manage production of consumable and equipment, maintenance, raw materials inventory planning and control, and inventory control.

+ Participate in management of the Quality System including the manufacturing process quality and supplier quality to drive customer satisfaction and continuous improvement while implementing Danaher Business Systems throughout the manufacturing operations.

The essential requirements of the job include:

+ Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, engineering or supply chain

+ Minimum 5 years of validated leadership in a manufacturing environment.

+ Exposure to and success in a dynamic, growth-oriented business environment; minimum of 10 years’ experience post-graduation.

+ Ability to navigate complex issues where analysis of situation requires an in-depth understanding of organizational objectives. Applies strategic goals and direction to obtain results.

+ Financial and business acumen to include knowledge of key financial statements drivers and levers.

+ Strong leader with proven ability to create followership with stakeholders, collaborate across functions and develop high performing teams to deliver business results.

+ Track-record of structured, process-based, continuous improvement; confirmed facts and numbers-based leadership capability in systems like “lean” and or environment, including Daily Management, Kaizen, and structured Problem-Solving processes; particularly in FDA-regulated or other highly regulated industries.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

+ Manufacturing transformations

+ Production line transfers

+ Advanced degree is desirable
