SMX is seeking a driven and talented Principal Consultant to join our thriving Cloud Services business unit and work with some of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the business. Our Principal Consultants are focused on ensuring our customers and teams are delivering on the promise of cloud. While our Solution’s Architects and SME’s validate that we are “doing the work right”, our Principal Consultants are focused on validating that we’re “doing the right work.” They look beyond the technology and keep the team focused on the business objectives that our engagements are designed to achieve. In doing so, our Principal Consultants become trusted advisors to our most valuable customers and work with them to shape new opportunities and address any high-level issues that may arise. This role is hybrid supporting our Chicago customer on site 2-3 days a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Develop deep and meaningful relationships with key customers and become their trusted advisor for cloud adoption

+ Work closely with our engagement managers to track the progress of existing engagements and provide 2 nd -level oversight to schedule/cost/risk concerns

+ Serve as the primary escalation point for customers and work proactively to avoid issues and work diligently to address any issues that do arise

+ Serve as the primary conduit between the customer and any internal SMX teams they may need to interact with, such as accounting, pre-sales, or our Cloud Center of Excellent

+ Actively seek out new opportunities for SMX to bring value to our customers and pursue conversations with the right stakeholders to help drive these opportunities to closure

+ Build relationships with any additional vendors or cloud partners that are engaged on a given account

+ Collaborate with sales, pre-sales, and exec leadership to help pursue and close new opportunities with both new and existing customers

Required Skills:

+ 15+ years of experience in the technology industry

+ 2+ years of experience in cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with substantial depth of experience on at least 1 cloud platform

+ Demonstrated experience briefing senior-level executives

+ Experience being accountable for revenue and/or sales objectives

+ 10+ years of experience in a customer facing role with the demonstrated ability to communicate with customers tactfully and effectively

+ AWS Practitioner Cert (or Azure/GCP equivalent)

Desired Skills / Certs:

+ Bachelor’s Degree

+ AWS Solution Architect Associate or comparable Azure/GCP certification

+ Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
