Job Description
Workers will cultivate and prepare soil using tractors and implements. Remove weeds using stand-up hoes, hand hoes, shovels, hands, and tractor implements. Harvest crops by cutting, picking, digging, and bunching by hand and with mechanical harvesters. Wash, dunk, sort, or bag harvested crops by hand or with mechanical washing equipment. Apply row covers, trellis and stake tomatoes, build temporary fencing to protect vegetables from animals. Lay and remove straw and prune plants in the field.
Duties may include building maintenance and upkeep (such as painting), lawn care and general landscape maintenance, including but not limited to hedge trimming, tree trimming, removing of limbs and storm debris, and grading of driveways or walkways, and mowing.
Workers may be required to make or assist with deliveries, as well as running errands.
Workers will use manual pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks and fork truck to move produce in and out of storage and to load and unload produce from wagons or vehicles. Workers will wash, sanitize and stack crates according to prescribed Food Safety Standards. Workers may be required to label, sort and pack boxes with vegetables for delivery to customers. Workers may be required to assist with greenhouse activities, including but not limited to thinning, spraying, assembling/dismantling greenhouse tables and floors, weeding, moving flats to/from wagons and preparing seedlings for transplant. Workers may be required to push/pull wagons under or out from cover as weather dictates. Duties may include maintaining records and logs as required to uphold regulatory compliance. Workers will remove garbage and other items from farm vehicles at the end of every workday. Workers may be required to clean common areas and work areas as directed by supervisor.
Workers will be required to maintain quality and efficiency standards as directed by the supervisor.
One set of tools per worker will be provided by the employer at no cost to the employee.
Frequent bending, stooping, walking and standing is required. Must have an ability to lift 50 pounds. May be required to work in extreme temperatures (Below freezing and > 100 F). May be required to work in inclement weather (rain, sleet, snow, wind).
