POSITION SUMMARY Directs maintenance activities in the plant to ensure reliability of equipment as well as maintain the physical appearance of the facility. Responsible for enforcing work standards and rules with regard to performance of duties by craftsmen and overall safety in the workforce. Introduces new approaches to solve problems and integrates new technology into the general maintenance activities. Ensures training of craftsmen to maintain the highest quality of workmanship. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent required. Two-year associates or vocational-technical degree is highly desired. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Prefer a minimum of ten years maintenance experience in a similar chemical facility. 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role is highly desirable. Fluent in English, oral and written required. Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs. Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software as needed. Good Communication skills. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES Review maintenance requests, work with warehouse to verify availability of necessary parts, coordinate with outside contractors performing site work, and direct site maintenance crew’s work activities to maintain equipment reliability and physical appearance. Develop knowledge of Maximo work order system. Improve plant productivity and equipment reliability by full use of all of the program’s capabilities. Keep detailed records of work performed and of equipment information and keep database updated with current and historical information. Works closely with all other departments during the planning and execution of major plant outages. Tour the plant daily to determine the condition of equipment and communicate problems to the Maintenance Superintendent. The incumbent must trouble-shoot equipment and communicate with production supervision to determine probable causes of equipment failures. Establishes priorities, trains subordinates on maintenance techniques to ensure work is completed safely and in a timely manner while ensuring quality of workmanship. Manage crew and ensure communications are clear, problems are solved and assigned work is completed efficiently at minimal cost. Promote teamwork and cooperation to ensure work assigned is completed in a timely and quality manner. Supervise maintenance activities in a safe manner ensuring compliance to OSHA, EPA, Coast Guard, and plant safety policies. Be an active participant in the Plant safety programs. Provide quality maintenance work improving equipment reliability and physical appearance in a cost-effective manner. Coordinate day-to-day maintenance activities, improving techniques including training, motivating general mechanics, implementing and ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining agreement and Company policy. Improve performance through personal development by participating in outside courses and maintaining contacts with internal customers, outside suppliers and manufacturers of special equipment. Regularly Communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions. Ensure timekeeping, attendance, etc. are properly maintained. EXPECTED RESULTS Work schedules are met on time without the need for rework. Compliance with all safety rules and regulations. Subordinates maintain all qualifications and certifications. Maintenance of all assigned equipment. Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs and address unexpected issues required. Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
