IT Business Systems Analyst - Digital | Abbott Labs | Waukegan, IL
Work with Product Owners and Project Managers on defining the project’s detailed scope. Responsible for creating, refining and maintaining user stories and associated deliverables such as process flows and test cases to meet development and stakeholder needs. Responsible for translating legacy system code into requirements. Work with Product Owners on the prioritization of the product backlog of user stories and to confirm the delivered solution is in fulfillment of the stated requirements. Work with Product Owners, BAs, and Quality Assurance Analysts on defining acceptance criteria sufficiently for testing. Responsible for serving as point of contact for IT for the business, broker contracts between IT and the business, and resolve client and IT relationship issues. Communicate organizational business strategy by working directly with business unit clients to understand specific business processes and needs and opportunities for improvement. Develop IT strategies that meet the needs of the business. Identify current and emerging business needs by evaluating IT solutions using standard information systems methodologies and best practices to determine the business benefit of alternative strategies. Manage and provide expert advice on the selection, design, justification, implementation and business use of information systems to enable digital transformation. Analyze business processes documents and business requirements by identifying alternative solutions, assess feasibility and make recommendations to leverage new or existing IT components. Translate business requirements into functional requirements, perform data and process modeling, manage change and lead the verification and validation of requirements. Proactively seek out strategic business opportunities with business unit executives for the application of new or existing IT capabilities. Prepare testing plans to confirm that requirements and system design are accurate and complete. Support adherence to Software Life Cycle. Develop business relationships and integrates activities with other IT departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts. Identify the impact of any relevant statutory, internal or external regulations on the organization’s use of information. Act as proxy product owner to define business needs in Jira including the definition of requirements using Gherkin or equivalent syntax. Up to 30% domestic travel required.
Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field of study (Will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in the aforementioned field with at least 5 years of related progressive professional experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) each alternative with an academic or industrial background in: (i) creating, refining and maintaining user stories and associated deliverables such as process flows and test cases to meet development and stakeholder needs; (ii) serving as point of contact for IT for the business, broker contracts between IT and the business, and resolve client and IT relationship issues; (iii) identifying current and emerging business needs by evaluating IT solutions using standard information systems methodologies and best practices to determine the business benefit of alternative strategies; (iv) analyzing business processes documents and business requirements by identifying alternative solutions, assess feasibility and making recommendations to leverage new or existing IT components; and (v) defining business needs in Jira including the definition of requirements using Gherkin or equivalent syntax.
