Job Description:

The Chief of Staff will be part of the Office of Remediation and report directly to the SVP that leads the Office of Remediation.

The Chief of Staff is an integrative role across the Office of Remediation and throughout Discover as a representative of the Office of Remediation. The Chief of Staff will oversee projects and initiatives as a delegate for the head of the Office of Remediation, manage stakeholder relationships, and maintain effective collaboration in the Office of Remediation.

Creates a culture of effective risk management, accountability, and demonstration of risk awareness across the organization.

Responsibilities:

+ Assess upcoming Office of Remediation priorities, execution risks and problem solve to ensure office runs smoothly. Manage the Office of Remediation’s priorities, deadlines and calendar and provide coordination across the initiatives within the Office of Remediation’s portfolios

+ Provide coordination of the Office of Remediation’s leadership team and the fostering of cohesion

+ Serve as outwarding-facing representative for the Office of Remediation, including on sensitive matters when needed. Field and coordinate requests and reporting asks from other functions, and develop baseline content to respond

+ Manage communications, including the development of baseline content from the Office of Remediation (including participation by in townhalls)

+ Serves as a thought partner in addressing critical issues within the business

+ Manages team and provides oversight of the team responsibilities as well as development activities

+ Assist in developing, updating and maintaining operating frameworks (for example, preparation of policies and procedures, articulating interaction models with business and control units, simplifying and streamlining routines) that support the running of the Office of Remediation and ensure that timelines for updates are met

+ Oversee creation and upkeep of strong operating methodologies, processes and frameworks for the Office of Remediation and in-scope efforts, including:

+ Policy, operating procedures

+ Interaction models, process responsibilities

+ Methodologies for status ratings, review and challenge, quality review

+ Protocols for evidencing completion, proving deliverables

+ In collaboration with the Head of the Office of Remediation and Human Resources, define and maintain for the Office of Remediation:

+ Roles and Responsibilities for the Office

+ The Organizational Structure for the Office

+ Skills and resource assessment for improving and maintaining effectiveness for the Office

+ Timing and responsibilities for workplan resource requests

+ Prepare job requisitions and assist Head of the Office of Remediation with HR processes (such as goal setting)

+ Contribute to new and ad hoc projects as as a leader, team member or solo contributor as needed. Provide thought leadership, connective tissue and assist with requests and special projects across the Office of Remediation Pillars, including program management; effective challenge and review; and reporting and governance.

+ Manage budgeting process and financial forecasting for the Office of Remediation

+ Provides logistical support and thought leadership for many of the activities intended to set strategic direction and maintain alignment within business unit.

+ Manages and interprets Finance-provided data related to business unit performance or financial plan

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Engineering

+ 8+ years of experience in financial services, management consulting, or related experience

+ 2+ years of people management, or related experience

In Lieu of Education:

+ 15+ years of financial services, management consulting, or related experience

Preferred qualifications:

+ Master’s degree in Finance, Business, or Engineering

+ 10+ years of experience in financial services, management consulting, or related experience

+ Ability to work with senior stakeholders within and across functional units

+ Demonstrated history of structuring and prioritizing divisional initiatives and incorporating conceptual feedback from senior management and multiple points of feedback. Ability to understand the objective and create, communicate, and execute in ambiguous situations

+ Demonstrated ability to structure information and develop materials (including excellent rendering skills in powerpoint and strong written synthesis skills) to communicate at the right level to different stakeholders

+ Experience in the project management space, sequencing activities, streamlining ways of working, identifying execution risks and taking proactive steps to address and/or escalate risks

+ Strong analytical thinking and ability to identify and synthesize themes and implications from multiple data points and sources (in written and oral communication)

+ Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing frameworks, policies, methodologies, and/or procedures for large organizations with multiple stakeholders

+ Superior oral and written communication skills

+ Experience in consulting for external (or internal) efforts that require fast learning, creation of framework-driven approaches, collaboration across multiple stakeholder groups to achieve outcomes

+ Specific subject matter expertise regarding program management disciplines and a strong business understanding of the products and services Discover offers

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $173,000.00 to $263,400.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
