Diagnostics Group Leader

Job Description

Provides supervision and technical leadership for the Advanced Photon Source/Accelerator Systems Division Diagnostics group:

+ Guides design, maintenance, analysis, and upgrades of beam diagnostics for the APS accelerators: linac, accumulator ring, booster synchrotron, storage ring, and transfer beamlines.

+ Leads development and implementation of new techniques, detectors, methods and algorithms for APS beam diagnostics.

+ Manages the budgeting and scheduling of the group’s R&D and maintenance activities.

Position Requirements

+ Knowledge of charged particle beam and photon diagnostics including beam position monitoring, radio frequency systems, optical, and x-ray measurement techniques.

+ Knowledge of high-speed data acquisition, analog and digital signal processing

+ Knowledge of large-scale control systems and computer programming.

+ Skill in project coordination and technical leadership.

+ Verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

+ Understand, value, and promote diversity.
