Job Description
- Manage driver performance in accordance with company policy and operator agreements
- Review and negotiate driver (operator) agreements
- Establish and oversee driver compensation and incentive programs
- Establish and provide for vehicle purchase programs for contractor owner-operators
- Procure vehicles
- Procure trailers, forklifts and other equipment
- Oversee safety compliance
- Oversee and manage safety program
- Manage vehicle maintenance and repair
- Establish, implement and manage preventive vehicle maintenance program
- Establish, implement and manage parts purchasing cycle program for employer and for contractor owner-operators
- Implement and manage maintenance budget
- Manage vehicle diagnostics
- Manage parts purchasing
- Manage parts sourcing from U.S. and international suppliers
- Review non-OEM parts purchasing processes and parts quality, purchase non-OEM parts where appropriate
- Communicate with drivers
- Select drivers and negotiate terms with drivers
- Keep track of driver performance and analyze performance data
- Design, implement and manage driver training programs
- Manage logistics and all other operational issues
- Provide and manage route optimization
- Evaluate, purchase and procure logistics software
- Communicate and manage IT contractors in the development of logistics and mechanical repair software
- Oversee and update fuel management policy
- Manage governmental compliance, licensing and violation remediation
- Manage vehicle tracking and related communications
- Manage compliance with Hours of Service regulations
- Manage operational costs
- Develop policies combing several loads into one vehicle
- Develop program for owner-operators so that company can have operators available on short notice as demand increases
