Planning Intern
Location: 1776 E. Washington Street, Urbana, IL, 61802
Base Pay: $17.00 / Hour
Description:
The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission is offering an opportunity to intern with a team of professionals in a multifaceted planning program serving a wide variety of clients.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze relevant data using standard methods.
- Work with staff conducting research, data analysis, GIS mapping, and preparing documents and other written communication.
- Participate in outreach events.
- Assist planners with other tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Experience with spatial data formats and GIS software, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products required.
- Familiarity with open-source GIS tools, including QGIS and PostGIS is preferred.
- Good analytical skills and experience with Python and R desired as well as excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
- At least three years of progress toward a degree in Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field or at least one year of progress toward a master's degree is preferred.
