Job Description

The Operations Research Manager is responsible for collecting data and collaborating with peers to identify operations issues and promote optimization. The job candidate must be able to convert complex data finds into meaningful visualizations to better inform management decisions. Finally, the Operations Research Manager is responsible for planning and monitoring the implementation and performance of operational adjustments for continuous improvement.

Data collection and operational optimization
• Collect end users’ needs and objectives through analysis of market trends and user surveys.
• Conduct operations research to analyze business problems and develop solutions using statistical analysis and database tools.
• Identify business problems within operational workflow and logistics chains using operations research approaches.
• Communicate selected approaches and resources required to solve business problems with other departments through written documents and verbal presentations.
• Use predictive analysis to generate alternatives to improve operational workflow.
• Optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness using mathematical programming.
• Develop optimization models/systems using programming languages to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Evaluate feasibility of solutions using data analysis and ensure their reliability. 


Data presentation and decision making

• Present results of mathematical modeling to managers in a clear and concise manner, tailor presentations to audience level as needed.
• Document findings and work progress with thorough and insightful reports.
• Report analytical results with modeling methods to management in a clear and accessible manner.


Implementation and performance monitoring
• Collect company performance data from all departments through communication and surveys.
• Build and maintain databases that model company’s operational structure and support visualization of logistics procedures.
• Outline new operational procedures to enhance efficiency within company and monitor progress of implementation.
• Record implementation progress, obstacles, and employee feedback.
• Use analytical tools to maintain effective project breakdown tasks to improve business efficiency.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments in operations research and analytics.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

Master’s degree in Management, or a related business field plus 6 months of experience in job offered or related Operations Research Manager occupation.
