The Clinical Dietitian will assess nutrition status, and develop/implement nutrition care to assure appropriate nutrition intervention and adherence to regulatory standards (IDPH, JCAHO, etc.). This position monitors and evaluates nutrition interventions, makes adjustments to plans, as needed, and reports results of quality outcomes in the inpatient, outpatient and/or homecare setting. This position also educates patients, care givers and other health care providers on the effect of therapeutic diets and nutritional support to maintain/improve nutritional status.

+ Assess, interpret, monitor and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs of hospitalized patients using established standards of care, policies and practice guidelines.

+ Provide nutrition education and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the patient’s medical goals.

+ Identify and provide age-specific nutrition care to meet the cultural needs of the patients and their families.

+ Maintain productivity standards and practice effective time management and prioritizing of tasks. Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns.

+ Function as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team.

+ When assigned, provide support and supervision to the daily infant formula preparation routine which includes identifying and calculating recipes to individualize the formula to meet nutritional needs of the infant.

+ Keep current on nutrition research and incorporate into daily practice.

+ Other duties as assigned.
