Summary:

Ready At Dawn is looking for a Senior Game Designer to join us in creating a co-op action-adventure VR title set in a brand new universe. Game Designers collaborate with Design, Engineering, Art, and Production teams to guide the creation of new features, gameplay sequences, and sometimes even workflows for the content and systems they build. An ideal candidate is a self-starting problem-solver with proven skills in game design and communication, possessing past experience prototyping, building, scripting, and debugging shippable gameplay.

Required Skills:

Senior Game Designer – Ready at Dawn Responsibilities:

1. Work hand-in-hand with other developers to prototype gameplay concepts and bring them to shippable quality

2. Design, implement, iterate, prove out, and balance diverse gameplay systems

3. Discuss design concepts at a high level and at a low level, in both formal and impromptu settings

4. Connect high level game design goals to specific, implementable mechanics and sequences that will deliver the desired gameplay experience

5. Plan and specify progression and tuning values to deliver on game pacing goals over time

6. Create and maintain design documentation to share ideas, concepts, and specifications in clear, concise formats

7. Anticipate problems, prioritize tasks, and organize collaborators to meet project objectives and deadlines

8. Develop mastery of our in-house tools and modified Unreal engine

9. Stay up-to-date on trends, technologies, and innovations in the game industry in order to solve design and implementation problems in our own games

Minimum Qualifications:

10. 5+ years experience as a game designer, with a history that includes some pre-production experience and at least one game/major-release in a game design role

11. Experience communicating with collaborators across multiple disciplines to execute on designs

12. Experience prioritizing feedback from leads, peers, and playtesters to iterate and improve on designs

13. Experience analyzing best practices and specifying gameplay systems based on specific game design goals

14. Experience working both independently and as part of a team

15. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

16. Up-to-date knowledge of game mechanics in the current highest-rated titles in the action/adventure genre

17. Intermediate knowledge of some industry scripting tools

18. Interest or existing experience in VR

Public Compensation:

$112,000/year to $161,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
