Job Description

The Orthopedic Surgeon shall have the following primary duties: Conduct orthopedic clinical research, which involves analyzing patient outcomes and contributing to the publication of clinical trials in reputable medical journals. Regularly examine patients in an orthopedic clinic, diagnosing orthopedic conditions based on thorough patient interviews and the collection of medical histories. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, medical imaging, and laboratory results to aid in providing accurate patient assessments. Refer patients to additional services and specialties, such as physical therapy, as required for comprehensive patient care. Prescribe appropriate durable medical equipment to assist patient healing and mobility. Perform a wide array of surgical procedures, including but not limited to shoulder reconstruction, Bankart repair, rotator cuff repair, total shoulder arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, carpal tunnel release, humeral shaft fracture repair, Achilles repair, and hip arthroscopy. Respond to emergency calls at local hospitals and facilities, performing emergency surgeries, consultations, and providing assistance to attending physicians as needed. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of medical providers to ensure holistic patient care. Deliver orthopedic care access to underprivileged patients in Chicagoland, specifically those on Medicare and Medicaid.

In regard to patient care, the Orthopedic Surgeon shall manage approximately 45 patient consultations per day, including post-operative and post-discharge visits. Regularly communicate with patients and their families, discussing diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses during each visit, as well as pre- and post-surgery.
