Overview

The goal of this position is to demonstrate excellence in quality efficiency across Pactiv Evergreen’s Foodservice Business Unit (BU) by integrating quality and compliance into the day-to-day operations across the BU. The Director of Quality will provide strategic direction and guidance for the Foodservice Quality organization to ensure end-to-end coordination of quality processes. This person is responsible for launching new, and enforcing established standards and protocols, ad hoc quality audits, committees, and training activities. The Director of Quality will be responsible for ensuring finished goods consistently meet all qualitative and quantitative requirements and will work with vendors and both internal and external customers to ensure Foodservice remains a leader in quality in the industry. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the Foodservice Quality organization operates in compliance with Pactiv Evergreen’s internal Quality System procedures, mitigation of identified compliance and quality risks throughout product life cycle from development through commercialization of the products manufactured at Pactiv Evergreen.

This position requires someone be based near a major airport.

Responsibilities

Reporting Relationship:

The Director of Quality will report to the Vice President of Operations, Foodservice.

Responsibilities:

· Leads, develops and executes quality assurance related strategic plans to support the organization’s objectives and goals.

· Plans, coordinates, and provides high level oversight of quality assurance systems to ensure quality production across all plants consistent with established specifications and standards.

· Manage a Quality budget across the business unit that represents an achievable value to deliver back to the business.

· Advises Leadership on business transformation topics that include organizational effectiveness, performance results, and change management in the terms of complexity and impact on the business. Create and drive a quality division that demands excellence and continually improves by proactively managing carefully chosen KPIs that manage risk throughout the BU.

· Leads root cause analysis and corrective actions in relation to quality issues and deviation.

· Develops processes and systems to accurately report issues and provide timely, cost-effective standards to mitigate potential future quality issues.

· Interfaces directly with customers and develops close working relationships to effectively manage quality assurance issues for existing business and to support business growth in close partnership with strategic customers and New Product Development.

· Keeps leadership teams abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance related investigations, audits, or improvement activities.

· Develop and oversee customer scorecard tracking metrics including development and oversight of corrective/preventative action systems across the Foodservice plants.

· Ensures uniform product specifications, quality assurance methodologies, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) run rules are in-use across the businesses and facilities.

· Establishes a quality systems roadmap with a succinct foresight in implementing world-class processes and systems that are measurable and repeatable across the BU.

· Develops and reports quality assurance KPI information to key stakeholders.

· Manage Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) targets and drive improvement strategies to the Business Unit and sites.

· Applies SPC, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing methods to evaluate and improve the current quality assurance systems and processes.

· Ensure adherence to Lean Methodology, including Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Daily Management, Layered Audit Process and Business Plan development to eliminate quality issues.

· Provides strategic guidance and oversight to the Business Unit and local quality assurance resources.

· Oversees the development and implementation of quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with regional and local managers.

· Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards, including food safety.

· Ensures BU wide, continuous compliance with government, customer, and third party food safety certification requirements, including on-site audits.

· Effectively lead, manage, develop, coach, and evaluate team members and associates at various levels of experience.

· Develop the organization to improve technical depth and capabilities related to Pactiv Evergreen products manufacturing.

· Establish proper communication channels to manage, mentor direct reports to higher levels of management capability and provide strategic leadership to further strengthen the platform with a highly functional Quality team.

· Provide leadership, vision, and direction to the Quality Organization to ensure it contributes to becoming a World Class Quality Organization and to achieve the Strategy and Company objectives.

· Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to identify, define, and implement opportunities for improved Quality Management System Process Workflows

· Provide leadership in issue management including product complaint and product recall process.

· Provides leadership and direction to the Operations Unit for implementing quality policies, strategic plans, systems and procedures that will assure efficacy, safety and quality of all products manufactured or tested at the facility.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

· 10+ years of experience in manufactured product quality systems and specifications.

· Minimum 7 years of experience as a quality manager or plant quality team lead preferably in a rigid, flexible, or food contact packaging environment.

· Minimum 4 years working with internal and external customers.

· Ability to travel up to 80%

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint.

· Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic, and flexible team based environment.
