Job Title - Scientist
Duration - 06 Months to 1 year
Location: North Chicago, IL 60064

Pay Rate Starts From $58/hr (Negotiable)
Summary:
We are seeking a talented and independently motivated scientist with experience in human cell culture and microscopy or high content imaging. This position will be primarily laboratory-focused and will support high content imaging assay and cellular model development, CRISPR-mediated phenotypic screening, and implementation of cutting-edge technologies to assess gene function and drug mechanism of action.

Applicants should have broad laboratory research experience using cell and molecular biology techniques. Open and detailed communication are essential. The candidate is expected to operate in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary setting and must be able to execute multiple research projects in parallel.


Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, execute, and optimize in vitro functional assays with imaging-related readouts in cell lines and primary cell models
* Perform CRISPR/Cas9 functional genomics research using high-content imaging assays
* Develop, implement, and document new experimental protocols/techniques
* Participate in cross-functional target identification and validation projects to support early drug discovery efforts in immunology and neuroscience
* Collaborate with scientists across diverse functional and therapeutic areas in a matrixed research environment
* Communicate and present project designs and results clearly, both to individual stakeholders and in group settings

Qualifications:
* Master's Degree or PhD (preferred) in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, or a related discipline
* Experience in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis required
* Image-based phenotypic screening experience is highly desirable
* Proficiency in in vitro cell culture required
* Experience in transfection, nucleofection, and lentiviral transduction is desirable
* Flow cytometry experience desirable
* Ability to learn new skills and apply them in a fast-paced research environment is a must
* Problem-solving and detailed communication skills required

Skills:
1 Trained in image analysis and either fluorescence microscopy or high content imaging
2 Highly experienced in cell culture
3 PhD scientist is preferred. Minimum Master's degree in cell biology or similar field
4 Ability to independently design, execute, and report on lab experiments

Nice To Have:
Flow cytometry experience; prior experience with arrayed phenotypic screening; background in immunology or neuroscience; PhD preferred
