EMPLOYER: Good Samaritan Regional Health Center d/b/a SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital – Mt. Vernon
POSITION TITLE: Physician (Hospitalist)
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 4
POSITION DUTIES: Diagnose, treat, and provide continuous and direct care to adult hospital inpatients. Provide consultation in the management of patients when requested. Facilitate the appropriate and timely disposition of inpatients. Provide specific recommendations in collaboration with the emergency department and referring physician for admission or discharge. In conjunction with referring physician, develop treatment protocols to ensure completeness of patient care, as well as discharge planning. Admit, manage, consult and discharge services to patients referred to service. Assist the Intensivists in the evaluation of patients; notify and consult with the attending physician to develop further treatment plans and patient disposition. Provide services to Nutritional Support Team. Complete medical records in a timely manner. Provide timely communication, including written communication at discharge, with the referring physician regarding transition to outpatient care. Sponsor and direct inpatient physician extenders. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing medical care.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Position requires M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent of M.D. or D.O); Completion of Medical Residency in Internal Medicine; Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Internal Medicine; and Illinois Physician License.
