Job Summary

The Project Field Engineer is responsible for supporting project construction operations from the home office/Virtual and will transfer to SHI Geoje Shipyard in South Korea upon commencement of fabrication.

During the engineering phase of the Project, the Project Field Engineer will provide leadership on construction engineering work . Home office activities include supporting the development of integrated activities into project schedule, Execution Readiness Preparation, support of the Commissioning team, evaluation of change request impacts, and support of engineering workshops such as HAZOP and model reviews.

In Korea, the Project Field Engineer will provide engineering assistance to superintendents; direct assigned personnel in meeting cost and time schedules; verify materials, equipment, and quality; and assure results meet design requirements.

The Project Field Engineer will interpret technical requirements and provide solutions in conjunction with the discipline Project Department Engineer and Discipline Superintendent; produce drawings and data; and direct work irrespective of discipline. The Project Field Manager will perform subcontract administration of contracts as assigned, interpret and administer commercial issues, and may negotiate back charges and other issues in coordination with site manager. Receives operational surveillance, administrative supervision from Project Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

+ Ensures that Black & Veatch is compliant with local/national safety codes, requirements, and standards within assigned area of responsibility. Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of project activities. Actively participates in safety programs.

+ Establishes and maintains contacts with client, partner (shipyard), supplier, regulatory bodies, project management, engineering, and field personnel.

+ Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned to field engineers and superintendents.

+ Schedules and assigns work to delegates to meet completion dates.

+ Performs employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for staff within area of responsibility.

+ Provides technical direction/interpretation of design drawings and specification requirements as well as general guidance to contractor/subcontractors on overall design. May sign off on field designs or re-designs performed in the field.

+ Reviews, maintains records, and responds to Contractor Information Requests (CIR)s and/or coordinate with home office respective discipline design engineers.

+ Administers assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with contract documents.

+ Monitors construction activities for compliance with the Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule.

+ Prepares and coordinates Out of Box Inspection in the shipyard and Monitor Preservation.

+ Monitor and support construction team with Inspection and Maintains a daily log for site record purposes.

+ Support schedule update and develop progress report..

+ Directs and/or performs quantity take-offs as required to support construction planning and invoice approval.\#LI-RK1

Preferred Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred or Equivalent experience

+ MUST have previous experience as a Project Field Engineer on a large-scale project.

+ MUST have 5-10 years of experience as a Project Field Engineer and Preferred candidate will have overall at least 15-20 years’ experience working on LNG, FLNG, FPSO facilities preferred.

+ Project Management, Value Based Management.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program in the USA or an engineering program, offered by a foreign institution, accepted as valid in the home country or the country in which the individual is practicing. 6+ yrs c All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.). Candidates may be required to travel internationally for short-term business trips to meet project requirements.
